Pics of the Nutcracker Guest Artists are finally here

We had a great time interviewing Natham Cottam and Traci Finch on the show last week. Cheryl Jenkins brought them over to the radio station and we had a great chat with Nathan about growing up in Buffalo, NY. He recently completed his Masters at the University of Arizona. Go Wildcats! Traci hails from the great state of Utah and is currently living in New York pursuing her career in dance. Their performance as the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Cavalier in Cheryl's School of Dance's production of the Nutcracker brought a new level of culture and refinement to our city of Carlsbad. Thanks also to Bethany Bluth for persuading them to come and perform in Carlsbad.
Here are the pictures of the Santa Claus cookies. They are very easy to make and are always a hit at the cookie exchange.
  • Grandma Sue's Caramel Corn
  • 1 can of sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup of butter (not margarine)
  • 1 cup light karo syrup
  • 2 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 can of peanuts
  • 3 bags of microwave popcorn
  • Add milk, butter, karo syrup and sugar in a heavy pan and cook on stove to soft ball stage (230 degrees--use a candy thermometer) Put popped popcorn in a large bowl. Pour hot caramel mixture over popped popcorn. Add peanuts on top of hot caramel mixture and blend well. Enjoy

Cool, I didn't know you guys had a blog! My mom told me you were starting a show, it sounds fantastic! Those cookies are so cute!

The cookies are delicious, too. Joann makes them often for Christmas. Maybe not every year because that would get a little boring, but often. They're fun to make, too!

I love the last pic. You ladies are gorgeous.
